Our Heroes

Last updated April 20, 1998

This party of DragonQuest adventurers are based in Tolkien’s Middle Earth, using the full continent map by Iron Crown Enterprises, Inc. (stock number ME 2100) All adventures have taken place on the east coast of the continent, far far away from the western side of the continent, which we are all familiar with from Tolkien’s writings. Our Heroes: Strongbow: Elf, of the Rubor Forest, left his homeland to adventure. Came east across the mountain range to Kael where he met his traveling companions Bud and Glug. He prefers the longbow and glaive, but has taken to using a broadsword and shield on many occasions. Has limited skills in thievery and rangering, prefers the woods. After becoming an Adventurer, he took up the skill of courtesan, and now uses the talents associated with this skill entertaining patrons at the Horny Mug Inn, a low quality establishment owned and operated by the three adventurers. In combat, he is often seen falling under heavy blows from the enemy. Best known for his skills with the bow, and inability to pick a lock. Can be seen riding a griffon around town and scaring all the horses, or telling lies and singing off key at the Horny Mug Inn. Left his homeland to adventure rather than work in the copper mines. Wields a great axe, and little else. He’s a ranger, thief, and military scientist, all of little skill, but for a dwarf, he sure can ride a horse. Has been known to deal massive blows in combat, or none at all. Once, while fleeing an enemy, was ambushed by a troll, one stroke of his axe later, and our brave adventurers were safely continuing their retreat. Best known for his incredible strength, ability to use either hand equally well, and drinking up most of the Horny Mug’s profits. Can usually be seen at the Horny Mug Inn, in varying stages of intoxication. Prefers a battle axe and shield in combat. A poorly skilled thief, assassin, and healer, he is never sure whether to heal you or torture you, but he has really nice handwriting. Is a very reliable combatant, usually the last to fall. Gained notoriety in his very first fight, after dropping his axe, he picked it up and proceeded to hack off his opponents leg. Has been held in some respect ever since, a difficult feat for an Orc. Known for great strength and profound stupidity. Often seen behind the bar of the Horny Mug Inn, or under it. Responsible for starting half of all fights within the Inn. These three Adventurers make up one of the most unusual group of travelers one would ever expect to see. There is never a shortage of strange looks these three receive when entering an establishment for the first time. In the course of their adventuring, they traveled down the coast and back up again, defeating the occasional monster, saving an appropriate number of damsels in distress, and even killing a dragon, with quite a bit of help from a powerful mage. Actually the mage killed the dragon, but they like to think that they helped. The dragon brought them quite a bit of fortune and fame, and were able to buy the Horny Mug Inn with moneys from the dragon hoard. They took a few years off after that, but have now been out and about in their quest to become full fledged Heroes. In this last year of adventuring they saved a small town from the threat of a demon, rescued a fair maiden from the clutches of an evil mage, and ran off a band of raiding gnolls. In the process of doing such deeds of good, each one of them lost his life once. Second thoughts for coming out of retirement have been common.
